Paul Mero- Mormons Shouldn’t Join ACLU Because Religious Freedom is Un-Mormon

April 10, 2011

Paul Mero

Recently the President of the University of Utah recommended that all LDS (Mormon’s to the rest of the world) belong to the ACLU.  Paul Mero of the Sutherland Institute (an independent but morally affiliated arm of the Mormon Church and generally anti-gay bigot) in typical anti-American family and anti-religious expression (unless it’s Mormon doctrine) thinks it’s crazy that Mormon’s would support an organization designed to support civil liberties.  His reason?  Because… as he says, often times the ACLU and the Mormons are on opposite ends of the aisle.  Perhaps that’s because the Mormon’s need to move across the aisle, recognize that not everyone needs to think like a Mormon and there are legitimate rights for those who don’t want their own planet when they die.
