Labour candidate in ‘gay’ attacks on rival

December 20, 2010

David Bradley, 29, who stood for Weston-super-Mare in this year’s general election, sent 33 texts to rival Ed Bramall, calling him a series of offensive names including “gay lord” after Mr Bramall was chosen over him to fight a local council seat in nearby Bristol.

In one bizarre rant he wrote that all gay men in Bristol should be set on fire.

Bradley pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment. He will be sentenced in January and prosecutors have also asked for a restraining order to stop him contacting Mr Bramall, 33, who went on to win in the Whitchurch Park ward of Bristol Council on May 6.
