The Pot Calling the Kettle Black: Sutherland Institute Grades City Websites for Transparency

December 13, 2010

The Sutherland Institute decided it was their ‘calling’ to grade Utah cities on the transparency of their websites.  This comes from an organization who hasn’t published their own fiscal year reports on their site since 2007.  An organization who negotiates back room deals with state legislatures to further a bigoted anti-modern family agenda using scientifically inaccurate or subverted data to further their own anti-Christian, pro-Mormon agenda.  Anyway I digress….

The Sutherland Institute, a Salt Lake City-based conservative think tank, graded the transparency of Utah’s 111 municipalities by analyzing their websites. Most received less than glowing grades.

“This was mainly to follow up with our push for government transparency,” said the study’s author, Derek H. Monson. “We thought, given the digital age we’re in, websites are the primary way governments can communicate with citizens.”
