CMPD “Christian” chaplains resign over lesbian appointment

November 8, 2010

Over the past few days, mainstream media outlets in Charlotte have reported on several resignations in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s volunteer chaplain force. At the center of the controversy is Police Chief Rodney Monroe’s support of a lesbian pastor who sought to become a member of the unit.

The Chaplins resigning cite that their professional obligations to their respective congregations don’t allow them to work with an LGBT Chaplin.  Interesting that the Chaplins put their obligation to their congregations as opposed to their obligation to God.

I guess Matthew 7 v 1:2 don’t apply for hired Chaplins:

1  Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2  For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
