God Heats Up Mid-America to Punish the LGBT Hating Tea Party, Christian Extremists and Their Supporters!

Perhaps all this time the Republican Tea Party and their right-wing Religious Christian Zealots are right.  God is unhappy with America and what’s going on this country and he’s getting his revenge.

Perhaps he’s exacting revenge on the religious extremists and their supporters for discriminating against God’s LGBT Children and denying them full marriage and human rights equalities.

Since conservative ‘traditional’ family Christian groups started attacking LGBT rights in the midwest, the temperature in those states has been going up!  Across the midsection of the country they spew their bigoted words of hate at God’s LGBT children, oust the fair-minded justices in Iowa,  lewdly use God’s name for political gain in Texas, Exodus International’s Bigot Conference in Minnesota this July and the fag hating Westboro Baptist Church use God’s name to hate his children; the heat in the Midwest and central South has done nothing but go up!

God has turned up the heat!  I surmise that God is PISSED at these conservative Tea Party/Christian Extremists and  he is smoking them out to extinguish these bigots who claim to hide under God’s wing!

Perhaps if the likes of NOM, AFA, AFTAH, Rick Perry, and all the other LGBT hating bigots got together in Texas and prayed to God for forgiveness on how they’ve mistreated, discriminated against, lied about, and forced LGBT’s into second-class citizenship, the Lord would find it in his heart to provide rain and temperature relief to these areas of the country… Perhaps!

The Facts Don’t Lie!

National Weather Service:  “The stage is being set for a massive heat wave to develop into next week as a large area of high pressure is anticipated to circulate hot and humid air over much of the central and eastern U.S. Maximum heat index values of at least 100°F are likely across much of this area by the middle of next week, with heat index values in excess of 110°F possible over portions of these areas.”

Extremist climate science deniers like Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty are campaigning tirelessly to give their state the climate of Texas.  That is what would happen if the nation and the world continues to follow in their preferred path of doing absolutely nothing to reduce emissions of planet-warming  greenhouse gases.

I know it is just a coincidence, but Minnesota is going to get a taste over the next several days of a Tea Party future (as will much of the rest of the country).  CNN reports today:

Extreme heat indices — how the air feels, with heat and humidity — are expected to reach up to 116 degrees in Minneapolis next week.

“These are extreme out-of-the-ordinary temperatures for Minnesota,” CNN meteorologist Sean Morris said.

Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington and other areas in Texas experienced afternoon heat indices of 105 degrees or more through Thursday.

The month of June was the hottest recorded for Texas since 1895, according to the National Weather Service.

Baylor University Says NO to LGBT Group Forming on Campus

Baylor University

Baylor University, a private Baptist “Liberal” Arts school deep in the heart of Texas continues to push its anti-modern viewpoints on students.  These students are legal adults yet Baylor continues to push its anti-diversity message of intolerance.  Last time I checked, intolerance wasn’t a Christian moral….

Baylor University in Texas likes to say it’s the type of school where “the future head of a Fortune 500 company sits alongside those who will found a missionary school in Africa or become a governor of Texas.” But God forbid one of these folks happens to be LGBT. Then it’s an open-ended question: would Baylor bother to recognize that person at all?

That’s because Baylor University has refused to recognize a proposed LGBT group on campus, the Sexual Identity Forum (SIF). The group applied for official status with the university, with the hopes of becoming a neutral, safe discussion group about sexuality issues including hate crimes, homophobia, and LGBT suicide prevention. Apparently that’s a little too much for officials at Baylor University, who denied SIF a charter and said that issues related to human sexuality should be left to “professionals” to discuss, rather than students.

Welcome to Baylor University, where the administration thinks that students aren’t responsible enough to talk about sexuality.

Gay Rights Petition: Demand Resignation of Texas Democratic Party Chair Who Called LGBT People “Termites” and “Nazis”

Change.Org

You can sign the Change.Org Petition demanding Dan Ramos’ resignation here

Dan Ramos, Chairman of the Bexar County Democratic Party, gave an interview last week with the San Antonio Current, where he compared LGBT people to “termites,” suggested that the national movement for LGBT equality was “a sinister movement,” and compared a local gay rights group to the Nazi Party. And this is a chairperson for the Democratic Party?

“They are all connected to the gay Democratic Party, the so-called Stonewall Democrats. Just like termites they managed to get some of their people in key positions,” Ramos said of local LGBT political activists. “I liken them to the Tea Party — the Tea Party and the fucking Nazi Party — because they’re 90 percent white, blue-eyed, and Anglo, and I don’t give a fuck who knows that. Just like the blacks … they’re American, but you can’t get your way just because you’re black.”

This type of rhetoric is inappropriate from anyone in politics, let alone the Democratic Party chairman. It’s time to join with many voices in the local community calling for Ramos to resign. Demeaning and vulgar remarks like this are no sign of leadership, especially in a political party that’s supposed to value equality.

Married Dallas Couple Refused Wedding Announcement by Newspaper

Mark Reed-Walkup and Dante Walkup

Dallas TX couple Mark Reed-Walkup and Dante Walkup made headlines several months ago when they were married over Skype by an officiant in the District of Columbia.  Unfortunately the court ruled the marriage wasn’t official because they weren’t present.  In December the couple flew to D.C. and tied the knot insuring it’s legality.  Congratulations to the both of you!

After returning to their home in Texas, they paid to have their announcement put into the local newspaper, the Dallas Morning News.  Unfortunately, the newspaper is refusing to publish their paid annnouncement in the Marriage section (it’s reserved for heterosexual couples only) but will put it in the Commitment section.

The newspaper’s decision prompted the couple to file a complaint with the city that the Dallas Morning News is discriminating against gay couples.  Their argument is that Dallas has a city ordinance barring discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.  The couple contends that since the announcements are paid, the newspaper is violating city ordinance by segregating the announcements to a different section of the paper.

Benefits Repeal in El Paso on Hold

January 17, 2011 Comments off

Every time I hear about this I really have to laugh aloud.  The Ordinance intention was to end the benefits for LGBT couples.  It was drafted by local religious leaders and adopted by voters in November.  However, the language was such that it also ended opposite-sex civil union rights as well.  It’s simply one more example of why religion and politics should be kept separate.  Why are local religious leaders drafting legal language, and why are elected officials allowing it?

A federal judge has ordered the city to preserve health benefits for gay and unmarried partners of city employees — and about 200 others — until a lawsuit is decided.

The police union sued the city over an ordinance, passed Nov. 2 by voters, that would have ended city benefits for 19 gay and unmarried partners of employees.

City Attorney Charlie Mc Nabb interpreted the language of the ordinance to mean that about 200 others, including retirees, were not legally city employees and also would lose coverage starting Jan. 1.

The new ordinance was put on hold in December after the police union sued.

Evangelist Cindy Jacobs: God Peeling Layers of Deception

Crazy Cindy

If Cindy Jacobs wasn’t so damn crazy I’d probably be upset with her recap of the conversation she had with God…  Well, atleast her god..  If my God was truly going to “begin peeling off layers of deception” I think Cindy would be in the first round!

So-called activist judges have more to fear than recall votes — God is going “sweep” them from the bench, says evangelist Cindy Jacobs.

In a video posted on YouTube, Jacobs attributes this statement to God: “I’m getting ready to sweep judicial activism. I’m shaking the courts. … Watch and see what I will do.”

Jacobs does not mention specific judges or rulings, but the term “judicial activism” is often used by the right wing as code for rulings in favor of gay rights, especially marriage equality.

Jacobs and her husband, Mike, run Generals International, a conservative Christian ministry based in Texas. Watch the video below.

The Texas legislature will consider a number of bills designed to reduce bullying in schools, following a spate of LGBT suicides in the past four months.

At least seven bills related to the issue have been filed ahead of next year’s legislative session, the Star-Telegram reports.

The most comprehensive was filed by Democrat Senator Wendy Davis of Fort Worth. Her bill, SB 245, makes reference to both sexual orientation and trans status.

Gay E-Wedding in Texas

November 17, 2010 Comments off

Gay Texas

This sort of thing isn’t supposed to happen in the Lone Star State, but two men recently held a legal wedding ceremony in Dallas, with their officiant Skyped in from Washington, D.C. The men had to go to Washington to get their marriage license. A few weeks later, they rented two rooms at W hotels, one in Dallas and one in D.C., and set up a teleconference between the locations. “When we walked down the aisle, as soon as we reached the front, she comes on the screen like The Wizard of Oz,” Reed said of the officiant. “It was beautiful. It wasn’t make-believe. It was like she was really there.” The pair say they wanted to get married in Texas with their friends and family watching, because “if we had to go to D.C., there’s no way we could have had the people there who we wanted to be there.” According to the Dallas Voice, “D.C.’s marriage law has no provision against e-marriage,” but “the validity of the procedure could theoretically be challenged in court,” so Reed and Walkup and working with lawyers and lawmakers to draft legislation that would explicitly authorize the practice.

One more reason why the 14th Amendment should be enforced to provide protection for LGBT and all people in the US.  The rights and privileges in one State must be recognized in all the other states!

After 15 years, weekly Mass for gays ends in San Antonio

October 26, 2010 Comments off

SAN ANTONIO — Catholic leaders here have discontinued a Mass that had been offered quietly for more than 15 years to the gay and lesbian community at a near downtown parish.

The weekly Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church was the subject of periodic complaints to the archdiocese. But until last Sunday, the local hierarchy had declined to shut it down. A handful of local priests sympathetic to the gay and lesbian community had conducted the Mass.

Auxiliary Bishop Oscar Cantú, the interim head of the archdiocese, told church officials the Mass conflicted with Catholic teaching because it was offered for the gay Catholic advocacy group, Dignity San Antonio. Part of the national organization, DignityUSA, it seeks the acceptance of alternative lifestyles in the Catholic Church.

“The Mass … continues to send conflicting messages about the Church’s official teaching concerning the proper celebration of the Eucharist and living an active homosexual lifestyle,” Cantú wrote in an Oct. 13 letter to the St. Ann pastor, Father John Restrepo.

While Cantú set the termination date for five days later, he also condemned any prejudice or hate against gay people and urged worshippers to attend Masses as part of the broader Catholic community.

I saw this video a couple days ago…  This is an amazing man and finally a politician who gives a damn and does something about it!!

(CNN) — It started with an emotional 13-minute-long plea at a local council meeting in Fort Worth, Texas.

Councilman Joel Burns struggled to maintain his composure Tuesday as he shared his story about being gay and bullied as a child and how the recent rash of child suicides because of bullying has torn him apart.
